KEMAL EVANS

Kemal Evans combines original songwriting with infectious melodies and danceable rhythms, resulting in a unique blend of music that defies labels. His sound is a mix of soul, funk, jazz and hip-hop that resonates with listeners of all genres. From acoustic grooves to free-style rhyming, his live shows are always exciting and fresh. Following his 2008 debut CD “No Pressure System”, Kemal formed the Kemal Evans Project. The band strives to create a live experience that is original, high-energy and captivating.

Having toured Western Canada extensively, Kemal Evans is an up-and-comer that has caught the ear of music industry heavyweights such as Virgin Radio in Vancouver and the 2010 Canadian Music Week Conference in Toronto. Kemal was a regional winner of the 2010 Canadian Radiostar Competition.  He is now busy working on his second CD, to be released in early 2011.

Kemal Evans’ roots run deep in music and the West Coast. His musical influences include everyone from Marvin Gaye to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and he has become a master of funky beats and ear-catching melodies. The KEP’s seductive, electro-acoustic sound grabs the audience and lures them out onto the dance floor for a shaking good time. But beneath the bright, highly rhythmic surface of the music there is a soulful thoughtfulness that stays with listeners long after the music has ended. Performing with the KEP or as a solo artist, Kemal’s strongest impulse is to share his music and to reach out and move an audience. Audiences at his show would agree completely!
